Ngl im with you there but as a girl who grew up in a very well known city and in a not so nice part of it, part of the reason why people don't wear headphones is due to safety. You can't hear pwople around you if you don't have headphones in and even if you do have headphones and us3 them all that tells other people is that you are not paying attention to your surroundings and can result in being an easier target for various things. I do agree with the idea of using captions and i do use captions but with so much content surrounding sound this is not always adequate enough to get the jist of the content. Additionally there is a big issue with captions as the auto generated captions may not be accurate to what is actually said and many content creators don't bother with making custom captions or if they do they sometimes make the captions inaccurate as a "joke". It is an issue that the deaf communities are always struggling with. I resort to watching comic book dubs or similar content as the audio is almost exclusively read from the text bubbles on the screen already but this content is not suited for everyone as some people just don't like it. Personally i like listening to music especially when on a jog but i don't feel comfortable having earbuds in unless im in a group of trusted people or on a bike in the backstreets of a barely active neighborhood or park where there is no cars instead of a jog but even then you'd need your earbuds or headphones out for safety. Additionally im not rich and if such an item like headphones is not gifted to me then i probably won't buy it because every dollar and penny counts when you're trying to save to provide fir your basic necessities. In other words while i get your sentiment there are a whole boat-load of reasons why some people don't use them or other quiet alternatives and if it bothers you then why don't you use noise canceling headphones yourself to not have to deal with it since it is your personal preference instead of asking others to buy an item to please your desires. These are honestly not even half the reasons people could have for not using headphones as there are health reasons as well such as swimmers not using them because even when using alcohol to dry out their ears, having earbuds in can trap moisture and lead to ear infections.
